The Curator meets the player in second time shortly after Alex and Julia return from their dive. He bids farewell with the promise they will speak again soon. He then informs the player about the pictures mechanic and that he will be monitoring their progress.
(In shared story he also notes that sometimes players will determine the story separately and their actions may not make complete sense to the each other). The Curator also explains that the decisions taken by the player will have important consequences in the story. As the keeper of all stories, he explains that the story in question is incomplete, requiring the player's input to be finished. He introduces himself to them and welcomes to his repository.
The Curator on the decisions taken by the playerĪfter the intro, the Curator meets the player in first time.
Moreover, in the conversations the Curator makes almost no sarcastic comments, paying full attention to counting survivors and giving hints. This change in behavior also affects on meetings - the player meets him only at the end of the prologue and each Act. While in Man of Medan and Little Hope the Curator appears rather friendly, in House of Ashes he becomes much more serious and speaks a little more strictly. Also Curator subtly implies that he would prefer to have a larger advisory role to the player. However, Curator indicates that he favors a careful, observant approach to the coming situations, and violates the rules, proposing to assist the player if he is satisfied with their progress. He claims that as the Curator of the Stories, his only role is to record the player's progress in the game, and also to remain neutral and not interfere, saying that it's "not his place" to do so. The same goes for his hints - instead of saying directly, the Curator prefers to say them with quotes from artistical works. So he can yell at players in Shared story if they often have different opinions.ĭuring the game the Curator likes to make sarcastic and witty comments about various events and player's actions, caustically mocking his decisions and talks about the plot and protagonists in ambigious and vague manner, thereby confusing the player. Although he is calm throughout all the meetings, on special occasions he can get angry. When speaking to the player about the prospect of death, he argues that while one should not fear it, wishing to avoid a premature end is not unnatural by any means. The Curator possesses a calm demeanor and is sophisticated in his speech. He’s been doing it for thousands of years, he supposes, but he can’t remember when he started, or whether there was ever a beginning to what he does. The Curator is timeless, recording stories of life and death in his own small section of a vast repository containing every story ever told. The watch and the chain connected to it can be seen hiding in one of his vest pockets, the Moral Compass is also in the left pocket.Ībove those pieces of clothes, The Curator also wears a long brown trench coat, a green patterned scarf, a grey bowler hat and brown leather gloves during the intro sequence of the Dark Pictures Anthology's entries and his background presence. His attire consists of a three-piece suit (a green dinner jacket, green trousers and a waistcoat with green front and brown back, covered with yellow octagonal details), a white collared shirt with grey metallic sleeve garters and a green patterned tie, he also wears dark brown leather shoes. He seems to use hair gel to hold it back. His greying brown hair is long on the top of the head and shaved on the sides.
The Curator has fair and wrinkled skin (as he's a middle-aged man) and icy piercing eyes.
